Carina Udriste

Flute

Born and raised in Romania, Carina began learning the flute at the Ion Vidu High School of Art and is currently studying at the Royal Northern College of Music under the tuition of Susan Milan.

 

In early 2017, before furthering her studies in the United Kingdom, she was awarded the Excellence Award from The International Society for Musical Studies and won first prize in the flute section of the National Romanian Music Competition. On top of solo recitals, in 2016 she had the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the Banatul State Philharmonic Orchestra; one year later, during the Timișoara Muzicală International Music Festival, she gave two performances, one accompanied again by the Banatul State Philharmonic and one by the Ion Vidu High School of Art Symphony Orchestra.

 

In 2019, after receiving a scholarship for her current course, she performed at the British Isles Music Festival and in 2020 she was a finalist in the prestigious RNCM Concerto competition.

 

Her orchestral experience includes projects with conductors such as Sir Mark Elder, Vasily Petrenko, Vassily Sinaisky and Mark Shanahan. She was shortlisted for the Chamber Orchestra of Europe’s Professional Experience Scheme, has performed on BBC Radio 3, and has had the pleasure to experience playing side-by-side with Manchester Camerata and players from the Hallé Orchestra.
