Georgina Bloomfield
Violinist
Georgina Bloomfield is 15 years old and is a music scholar at The King’s School in Macclesfield. She began having lessons on the violin when she was 6 with Philippa Bunting and now attends the JRNCM every Saturday and studies with Catherine Yates. At the end of 2017 she ‘retired’ from The National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain after 7 years, receiving the Ruth Railton Memorial Prize for outstanding service. Aged 11 Georgina passed her grade 8 violin exam with 145 (out of a possible 150), and she has performed with Nicola Benedetti at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester (Nicola let Georgina play the solo part whilst she accompanied!). Georgina has performed in concerts and festivals across the country since the age of 8 and is currently right in the middle of her GCSE exams, but is very much looking forward to the summer when on her birthday, as a member of the National Youth Orchestra 2019 she will perform at the Proms with Nicola Benedetti!
